Logo rules, applied for you: the logo sits centered on a plate in the background color, never wider than 30% of the code, the error correction switches to H and the code gets at least version 5 so the data survives. The scan check then confirms it reads.
Output
Error correction lets a code survive dirt, damage or a logo: L, M, Q and H can lose 7%, 15%, 25% or 30% of the modules. Higher levels make a denser code.

Frequently asked questions
How much text fits into one code?
A few hundred characters is comfortable. Beyond that the pattern gets dense enough that phones start to struggle, especially on a small print or under poor light. If you need more, put the text on a page and encode the address instead.
Does the code expire or stop working?
No. What you type is encoded into the pattern itself, so there is no link in the middle, nothing to keep paying for and nothing to switch off. A code from a service that counts scans points at that service first, and the day the account lapses every printed copy stops working. This one does not have that problem, and it also means the code cannot be edited later: to change what it opens, make a new one.
What do people need to scan it?
Just the camera app. Every current iPhone and Android phone reads QR codes from the normal camera with no extra app, which is why a plain code beats one that only works inside a particular app.
Will it still work in print?
Yes, if it is big enough. As a rule the code wants to be about a tenth as wide as the distance it will be read from: a couple of centimetres on a card, ten or so on a poster. Download the SVG rather than the PNG for anything printed, because it stays sharp at any size, and keep some quiet space around it.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The code is drawn in your browser, so what you type, including a Wi-Fi password or a phone number, never leaves your device. There is no account, no scan tracking and no watermark.
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no trial, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make or how often they are scanned. The site is paid for by ads.
